1. What is HomesickGI.com?
HomesickGI.com is a private, safe and secure online community suitable for the entire family. Although originally developed for our deployed military to keep in close contact with their friends and family back home, HomesickGI's awareness has grown and now serves as a resource for everyone who would like to share family video, pictures or audio with their friends and family across the street or across the world.
2. What are albums and how are they used?
Albums are the areas that you create to upload video, audio and pictures into. Albums can be used as a cataloging system so videos and photos of a specific event, or time, can easily be accessed. An example would be an album called: "Christmas 2007" or "2008 Video Birthday Cards for Daddy."
When you create an album you can choose to make it public to share with other members you have invited to be in your personal friend’s network, or you can make the album private to only be shared with the specific individual members you choose to share that album with. An example would be if a husband is deployed and his family back home creates a personal family album that only they can view and have access to.
3. How do I send messages to our military serving overseas?
There are many ways to use our site to communicate with service members serving overseas.
- First: You can search for the name of your friend in your "Friends Search" page. If they are here, invite them to be in your friends network. When they accept you can share, messages, video, audio and pictures in albums you create.
- Second: If your friend is not a member yet, and you know the email address for that friend, you can invite them to join in your Invitations page using their email address. Once they join for free, they will be in your friends network and you can share messages, video, audio, and pictures in albums you create.
- Third: You can also post messages on the Forum pages. The Forums can be used to communicate with any member of the military on the site.

1. How do I create an album?
Albums can help you sort your files in easy to understand folders. For example, you can create a Christmas 2008 album and upload all of your Christmas 2008 pictures, videos, and audio files into a single album.
- ONCE YOU LOG IN, you are directed to your homepage. Choose "Create Album" on this page.
- Create and name an album such as "My Family Album" to upload photos, videos and/or audio.
- Once you create the album you will see the album’s name.
Posting pictures, video and/or audio is fun and easy once you know how. Here are the simple steps to get you started and on your way to sharing with friends and family.
- ONCE YOU LOG IN, you are directed to your homepage. Navigate from here to your albums.
- Select the album's name you would like to add content to such as "My Family Album."
- The album’s header has these actions: (Add Pictures) (Add Video) (Add Audio). Choose what you wish to add.
- Choose the browse button to browse your hard drive and select the files from your computer.
- Choose Ok and the upload process will automatically begin. When done choose the button "Back."
